If you are planning a memorable food experience in northern Italy, Ca' Matilde is the kind of place that immediately stands out. Tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Quattro Castella, this fine dining restaurant combines elegant presentation with the warm and welcoming atmosphere that Italian hospitality is known for. From the moment you arrive, the setting feels refined without becoming overly formal, which makes it comfortable for both special occasions and relaxed evenings with friends or family. The outdoor seating area adds even more charm, especially during pleasant weather when guests can enjoy the surrounding landscape while dining.
One thing that makes Ca' Matilde so appealing is its attention to high-quality ingredients and carefully balanced flavors. The menu reflects a modern interpretation of Italian cuisine while still respecting regional traditions. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and the overall dining experience is designed to move at a comfortable pace rather than feeling rushed. Because of this, it is a great place for people who truly enjoy savoring their meals and appreciating fine details in cooking.
The restaurant also offers an impressive selection of wine, beer, coffee, and hard liquor, giving guests plenty of options to pair with their meals. Visitors who prefer lighter or more balanced dishes will appreciate the healthy options available on the menu, while those arriving later in the evening can still enjoy satisfying late-night food in a refined setting. Since Ca' Matilde focuses entirely on the dine-in experience, there is no delivery or takeout service, which helps maintain the quality and presentation of every dish served. The atmosphere, attentive service, and polished style all work together to create a dining experience that feels authentic, sophisticated, and genuinely memorable for anyone exploring the culinary side of Emilia-Romagna.

I’ve been to many Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, but this one was definitely the best value for money I’ve ever experienced. We had the “Heaven” menu, and every course was delicious, varied, and surprising—exactly what you expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The downside was definitely the sommelier, who barely spoke English, and the wine pairing itself was not very good. That said, €60 for the pairing is at least very cheap. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant—just skip the pairing and choose a good bottle yourself. Bay the way; a non alcoholic pairing would have been great.
We booked a lunch at this remote but beautifully located restaurant. It was well worth the drive to get there. The building is modern with a rustic flare, so beautiful. The service was spectacular. The food was everything and more to expect from a Michelin Restaurant. Every plate was a work of art, with flavors that were unique and so delicious. The wine list is of course superb. And the chef went out of his way to accommodate certain food preferences. Our best meal in Italy!
Last night we experienced Ca’ Matilde for the first time based on a personal recommendation, and it did not disappoint. We chose the vegetable menu and it was simply amazing. I don’t usually post reviews but this was so good I felt compelled to share our experience. Our evening started with a peaceful walk through their beautiful vegetable garden while sipping a glass of Lambrusco. Then we sat on the outside patio and were served the memorable “Hello from the kitchen” — a starter platter of beautiful small bites that were creative and oh-so scrumptious. The courses kept coming and we had difficulty deciding which was our favorite. Each course was unique and beautiful in presentation, and the depth of flavor is difficult to describe here. It became evident early on why it earned a Michelin star rating— it’s a dining experience for the senses. We want to thank the owner, Marcella, for ensuring we received top notch service the entire time we were there, and compliments once again to Chef Andrea for serving us a meal we will always remember.
Tell us what you ordered and what it cost. Two or three sentences about one dish is more useful to the next person than a star rating.
